Finally, I was asked to speak a bit about the importance of the Young Men’s program.

Conversion

Conversion
I realize that we all must be converted whether born in the church or not. It is interesting how we talk about converts. Of course, I don’t know a better way of putting it. I am a convert. I was not born or raised in the church. I _was_ fairly active in my United Methodist community when I was a kid, probably up until age 14 or 15. I even went to a methodist university, though religion wasn’t the reason. Continue reading “Conversion”

Marriage is Ordained of God

And again, verily I say unto you, that whoso forbiddeth to marry is not ordained of God, for marriage is ordained of God unto man.

DC 49:15

Ordained of God means that it is established by God or ordered by God. Now, I am not sure if it is officially doctrine of the church, but that sounds like it might be a commandment. Why we should bear our testimony

One Testimony meeting a man from our ward, Sugar Land 2 in Sugar Land, TX, said as part of his testimony, “The Book of Mormon is the revealed word of God.” I had a powerful feeling come into my heart that confirmed for me that indeed the Book of Mormon IS the revealed word of God. That is one way we gain our testimonies. The Holy Ghost shows us a truth or confirms for us a notion that we previously only had faith that it was true.
